None are certain from where the mystic powers of the gem poacher came to be, some claim a cult of greedy and deep-delving dwarves took to hoarding gem stones and learnt the secrets of harnessing the latent powers stored within each stone. Others suggest that it must have been Mesos or his arcane followers who set to gathering gems from which to enact blood rites over and thusly enchant the stones with the essence of their primal patron. With the ability and power to absorb arcane energies from gem stones, it is surmised that these cultists recruited and possibly bound a group of followers highly trained in the arts of robbery, treachery and even murder to seek out and claim stones of value for the cult’s purposes – sages speculate that these highly trained and elusive miscreants became the first gem-poachers.
Through whatever means the mystic arts of Gem-poaching came about, it is surprising that the talent has survived to this day and age – rare adepts, mostly among the monstrous races, seem to have passed down the talents from master to apprentice through the ages; more recently adventuring bards and lorekeepers of Darakeene discovered these strange tribal adepts and their vast stores of remarkably valuable gems. It is unsure how they gleaned the secrets of the gem-poachers from these reclusive peoples (many suggest enchantment magics must have been used), but through these secretive means the art of the gem-poacher has been re-discovered by the divine races.
It is rare to find one who knows the secrets of gem-poaching and rarer still to find one willing to share these talents, as gatherers of anything of value tend to disfavor competition for said valuables..

Skill points per level: 4+ int. modifier.
Imbue Gem: The gem-poacher has learned to tap into the latent power stored within a gem stone and channel that mystic energy into his person.
Only one gem can be imbued with any given power (so one gem with rock’s luck, one with stone savvy etc.). If a gem-poacher decides that he wants to imbue a different power then he must first destroy the currently imbued stone before he can empower a new one.
Lucky Rock (ex): Requires a gem worth at least 100 gp. At the time the gem is imbued the poacher may select one skill that he has at least 1 rank in. From that point on the poacher has a +3 luck bonus to any checks for that skill provided that he has the imbued gem on his person.
Savvy stone (ex): Requires a gem worth at least 500 gp. The poacher may imbue the gem with any one feat that he meets the prerequisites for. He is considered to have that feat provided that he has the imbued gem on his person.
Shadow Ruby (ex): Requires a gem worth at least 750 gp – it need not be a ruby.
Once imbued this stone grants the poacher one of the special abilities that a rogue can choose at tenth level. The poacher is considered to have this ability provided he has the imbued gem on his person.
Hex Diamond (Su): Requires a gem worth at least 1,000 gp – it need not be a diamond.
Once imbued, the gem allows the poacher to store spell energies within this gem. This stone can store up to three levels of spells within it, spells that can be cast out by the Poacher and functioning like a ring of spell-storing, provided the gem is on his person. Unlike the other imbued gems, the hex diamond is not destroyed if it the poacher decides to change the affect of the power imbued within the gem, however, for every spell cast from the gem there is a cumulative 1% chance that the gem will be destroyed.
Hallowed Emerald (Sp): Requires a gem worth at least 2,500 gp. – it need not be an emerald.
Once imbued the poacher may cast spells and use the granted powers as if he had access to a cleric domain chosen at the time of imbuing. The domain imbued must be one of the following: Earth, luck, magic, protection.
The poacher casts these spells as a cleric with levels equal to his poacher level, but his intelligence score is used to determine saving throws or ability to cast the spells rather than his wisdom.
Before a gem is imbued with this ability it must be blessed by a cleric of at least 10th level who has access to the desired domain. The cleric must be aware of why he is blessing the stone.
